Surving Your Serengeti — the Interview

Many of you already know my good friend Stefan Swanepoel.  Although he is an industry icon and visionary, because our industry attracts hundreds of thousands of new agents each year, some of you may not be familiar with him.  For those of you who don’t allow me this introduction.

Stefan’s professional career has focused on identifying trends and changes in the real estate industry and is widely recognized as the leading visionary in this field. He has penned over 19 books, reports and whitepapers, over 1,000 published articles and given more than 700 presentations to over 300,000 people.  His most popular books include the including the 1998 Amazon.com bestseller Real Estate confronts Reality, the annual Swanepoel TRENDS Report (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010) and the new Swanepoel SOCIAL MEDIA Report (2010).

He has received numerous awards including; “Businessman of the Year” (Jaycees), has been ranked as one of the “Top 20 Most Influential People in the Real Estate Industry” (Today’s REALTOR®), “One of the Top 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders” in 2008 (Inman News), “One of the Top 25 Most Connected Real Estate Professionals Online” in 2009 (Proxio) and “One of the Top 50 People Who You Should Follow on Twitter” in 2009 (Roost).  He is also the co-founder of Real Estate Wiki, the largest free online real estate encyclopedia and resource.

Recently Stefan and I reconnect via telephone after several months of busy schedules and he brought me up to speed on his brand new project: Surviving Your Serengeti.  After talking about it for a while we thought it might be fun to record an interview and share it with my extended real estate family.  I managed to secure an advance copy of Serengeti and read it prior to our interview.  I was expecting another of his many great real estate books, but I was shocked!  It is much more than that.  Surviving Your Serengeti is a business fable, similar in style to Raving Fans, The One Minute Manager, and Who Moved My Cheese?

Normally, I don’t do interviews with authors or people who are promoting something.  In this case, I made an exception.  Stefan is one of the “good guys” and I would love for my readers to get to know him and benefit from him just as I have.  What a great and influential leader in an industry that so desperately needs leadership.  And more than that — what a great guy!

So, please take a few minutes to listen in as I talk to Stefan about his brand new book.  After you do, if you are as impressed as I was, go to your local bookstore this week and buy Surviving Your Serengeti.  If they are out of stock, order one.  The book is very inexpensive ($12.50 in hardback!) and by buying it this week you will be helping to create a national buzz that will likely impact the publicity and the distribution going forward.

I give away about 99% of all my technology and digital training content, completely free of charge, because I want to see other agents have the same kind of success that I've had. But one thing I charge for is my Ultimate Website technology. This is the web technology I created for myself that turned my real estate practice around overnight, and now I license it agents everywhere. But right now it's too popular and is currently waitlisted. Click here to get on the website as soon as possible and I'll notify you as soon as new invitations become available.

Sorry Kim. Because it’s syndicated, it might work at http://RealBlogging.com or http://NewsGeni.us. It’s working fine on this end so I imagine it is an internet speed issue or too many people listening at the same time.

Sorry folks! I mad the mistake of telling 40,000 agents about it at the same time. It never occurred to me that all would go at the same time! It is working but for some people, bandwidth is a problem. Please keep trying… the interview is worth it.
